Description

Acanthocereus tetragonus variegata is a dwarf, slow-growing, branching cactus. The spiny stems are 5-sided, mid-green with creamy-yellowvariegation, and produce numerous smaller offsets. It will reach about 6 feet (1.8 m) tall with great age. Nocturnal, white, or yellow flowers are rarely produced.

The fairy castle cactus rarely blooms. Cacti need perfect growing conditions to produce flowers and the plants in the Cereus family bloom at night. Fairy castle cactus flowers are large and white and usually will not occur until the plant is ten years old or more.

Environment

Like most cacti they’re drought tolerant and need very little care and attention to grow well. Not enough sunlight and over-watering are common mistakes.

Plenty of sunshine will keep this cacti more than happy. In a glass room you may have to provide some shade during a hot summers day to prevent sunburn.

They should be fertilized during their growing season in the summer with a good organicfertilizer.
